SPECIAL GUIDELINES
Clothing
Dress for fun! Rainbow C.D.C’s days are filled with all kinds of hands-on
learning. Children should wear simple, washable clothing and comfortable
shoes. Since our classroom extends to the outdoors, please dress your child
appropriately for the weather.
Days at Rainbow C.D.C can sometimes be messy, so bring a change of clothes
for your child including pants, shirt, socks, and underwear. Make sure
clothing is labeled, including jackets and coats. Rainbow C.D.C cannot be
held responsible for lost or damaged clothing.
Positive Guidance
As a matter of policy, physical punishment is never permitted at the Center
by anyone. Discipline at Rainbow C.D.C is consistent with age and needs of
your child. Redirecting children to more appropriate activities, direct or
indirect praise, and teaching by example or logical consequences usually
resolves most situations. These techniques give children time to think about
their actions.
If your child is experiencing a change in his or her home environment that
may affect behavior, please let your child’s teacher or Director know.
Communication is important to your child’s progress. In turn, Rainbow C.D.C.
will keep you informed of any issues we feel should be addressed. We will
work with you to address the situation. However, should it be necessary,
Rainbow C.D.C reserves the right to ask parents to make temporary or
permanent alternative arrangements for their child.
Field Trips and Special Activities
Field trips and special activities are wonderful additions to a child’s
experiences at Rainbow C.D.C. Prior to any field trip, Rainbow C.D.C must
have written parent authorization for a child to attend. The Field Trip
Information Form is available in the Center for parents at least one week
prior to a field trip.
Children as well as Associates must follow all safety rules and procedures
as well as state licensing requirements.
Special activities, such as dance class or art, are offered for an
additional charge. Information for these activities is able at the Center.
Personal Belongings
Many children need a security item from home to feel comfortable during rest
time. WE encourage you to bring this special item for your child, keeping in
mind that it needs to fit into your child’s cubby for storage throughout the
day. In addition, we ask that you clearly label the item.
Rainbow C.D.C’s Show and Tell day is on Fridays. We ask that you label your
child’s toy. We cannot be held responsible for lost or damaged items.
Parent Code of Conduct
Rainbow C.D.C has developed the Parent Code of Conduct to ensure that you,
your child, our staff and all that enter our Center enjoy a safe, welcoming
and respectful environment. Actions that demonstrate respect for others are
expected in our Center. Behavior that is inappropriate or instigative is not
acceptable. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone, without
warning, who violates the Parent Code of Conduct.
Adjusting
That first day can be a time of high anxiety for parents too. Feel free to
call the Center throughout the day to see how your child is doing.
New situations affect every child differently. Sometimes a child does
wonderfully on the first day because everything is new and exciting, but
gets anxious on the second day when he or she recognizes this is going to be
a set routine.
Most children need two or three weeks to adjust fully to a new environment.
The best support you can give is to be enthusiastic and encouraging and be
patient. If you need reassurance or suggestions for helping your child feel
more at ease, speak with your child’s Teacher or Director.
Remember, Rainbow C.D.C’s primary goal is to work with you to provide a
safe, nurturing environment for your child in which to learn and develop.
We’re glad you’re here at Rainbow C.D.C.
The First Day at Rainbow C.D.C
The first day at Rainbow C.D.C can be an emotional one for everyone
involved. However, there are some positive steps you can take to help make
the day a great experience and fun for your child.
Talk with your child about what’s coming- new friends, fun activities, a
nice Teacher
Make sure your child has a special security item to bring to the Center.
Start early, so the day doesn’t feel rushed.
After checking in on the keypad and sign-in sheet (where required by the
state) in the front lobby, take your child to his/her classroom and alert
the Teacher that your child has arrived.
Parents are welcome any time, especially on that first morning. You can stay
as long as necessary for your child to feel secure and comfortable. A
good-bye kiss and positive smile are important for kids. It’s also important
to tell them when you will be back to pick them up.
